What counts as a data emergency

If any of these sounds familiar, treat it as urgent and stop using the device:

  • A hard drive that clicks, beeps, grinds or won’t spin up
  • A computer or laptop that won’t start, holding files you have no backup of
  • A server, RAID or NAS that is down and has stopped your business
  • A phone that is dead, soaked or stuck restarting, with the only copy of your photos
  • A drive that was dropped, got wet or went through a power surge
  • A deadline that can’t move: payroll, a tax filing, a court date, a client delivery

The first 10 minutes: what to do, and what not to do

What happens right after a failure often decides whether the data comes back.

Do this

  1. Power the device off and leave it off. A failing drive can lose more data every minute it runs.
  2. Write down what happened: any noises, error messages, and what you were doing at the time.
  3. Call us before you try anything else: (830) 205-3255.

Don’t do this

  • Don’t keep restarting it to see if it works now.
  • Don’t run recovery software or disk repair tools on a drive that is clicking, not detected or was dropped.
  • Don’t reinstall the operating system, and don’t click “initialize” or “format” if the computer asks.
  • Don’t open the drive. Dust on the platters can’t be undone.
  • Don’t rebuild a RAID or swap its disks around. Label each disk’s position and shut the system down.
  • Don’t power on or charge a wet device, and don’t dry it with heat. Bring it in as soon as you can.

How our emergency service works

  1. Call (830) 205-3255, any time. Tell us it’s urgent and what happened. We’ll tell you straight away whether to bring the device in or ship it.
  2. Get the device to us. Drop it off at our San Antonio lab on North I-35, or ship it overnight with UPS, FedEx, USPS or DHL. Call before you ship so we’re watching for it.
  3. Free evaluation, at the front of the queue. Rush cases are looked at first. You’ll hear what failed, what recovery will cost, how likely it is and how long it will take.
  4. You decide. Nothing starts until you approve the quote.
  5. Recovery and return. We recover your files and return them on a new drive, with overnight return shipping if you need it, quoted upfront.

Rush service moves your case to the front of the queue. It can’t change what is physically wrong with the device, so we’ll always give you a realistic timeline instead of a promise we can’t keep.

How fast is emergency data recovery?

It depends on what failed, and we’ll tell you after the evaluation. As a guide:

SituationTypical time once we have the device
Deleted files, formatted drives and other simple casesOften 1 to 2 days
PhonesUsually 1 to 3 business days
SSDs and flash storageUsually 2 to 7 business days
RAID, NAS and serversDepends on the array. You get a timeline after evaluation
Physical damage that needs cleanroom workLonger. This work is done through our certified partner lab, and we tell you before your device leaves our hands

Rush cases are worked first, and we’ll tell you honestly whether your deadline can be met.

What does emergency data recovery cost?

  • The evaluation is free.
  • You get a clear quote before any work begins. If rush handling adds to the price, it’s in that quote, not added at the end.
  • No data, no charge. If we can’t recover your data, you don’t pay a recovery fee.

Emergency data recovery FAQ

Do you offer same-day or 24-hour data recovery?

We offer rush service, which moves your device to the front of the queue. Simple cases can sometimes be finished in a day or two. Physical damage takes longer. After the free evaluation we give you a realistic timeline, not a guess.

Can I call outside business hours?

Yes. Call (830) 205-3255 any time, 24/7.

How much does emergency data recovery cost?

The evaluation is free and you get a clear quote before any work begins, including any rush handling. If we can’t recover your data, you don’t pay a recovery fee.

Should I try recovery software first?

Not if the drive is clicking, beeping, not detected, or was dropped or got wet. Software makes a failing drive work harder and can destroy data that was still recoverable. If you deleted files from a healthy drive, stop using it and call us.

My server or RAID is down. What should I do?

Don’t rebuild the array, swap disks or run repair tools. Label each disk’s position, shut the system down and call us.

I'm not in San Antonio. Can you still help quickly?

Yes. Ship the device overnight with any major carrier and call us before you send it, so we’re watching for it. We can return your recovered data by overnight shipping.
